Pastor Peter Nugent
Pete is our senior pastor. He and his wife Kathy have been married since 1978 and have two sons, Jonathan and Christopher.
Pete was raised in Iowa, and after graduating college, he was employed by the Maytag Corporation as a field marketing representative. In 1983, while living in down state Illinois, Pete and Kathy accepted Jesus Christ as their personal saviour. After several job transfers, Pete and his family moved to the Kansas City area. It was soon after this that Pete and Kathy surrendered their lives to serve the Lord through various ministries at their church. Pete began attending a bible institute at the Kansas City Baptist Temple (KCBT) and in 1995, Pete was ordained as a children's pastor by the Kansas City Baptist Temple. While working in that ministry, Pete also began preaching in churches around the midwest that needed their pulpits filled on a temporary basis. In July of 1996, Pete formed Grace Baptist Church along with two other men and their families. They began meeting in the Nugent's living room. As the church grew, they continued to change their meeting locations, until 1998 when they moved to their current facility in Lees Summit, MO.
Pete is passionate about three things: soul winning, discipleship, and the King James Bible. He has a deep desire to see all Christians fulfill God's calling for their lives. On a personal level, Pete enjoys riding bicycles and travelling with his family.John Gowans
John is an Associate Pastor at Grace Baptist. He and his wife Sharon have been members since its founding. John graduated in 1995 from the Shepherd School of Ministry at KCBT and was ordained into the Gospel Ministry in 2004. John led the High School Sunday School class for six years and is currently leading the Adult Sunday School class. John is also over the Discipleship Ministry and Dean of the School of Ministry at Grace.
Gar Walker
Gar is the teacher of the Prime Timers (Senior Citizens) Sunday School Class. Gar and his wife Patsey (Pat) have been members of Grace Baptist Church for over 10 years. Gar is a gradulate of Elohim Bible Institute, Castile, N.Y. and is retired after pastoring a number of Baptist Churches in Pennsylvania and New York State. Gar has been serving the Lord as a Pastor for over 25 years.
